Friends of the Americas was founded by the late Dr. Alton Ochsner, Jr. and Rep. Woody Jenkins in 1984 as a way to reach out with humanitarian assistance to people in Latin America suffering from war, natural disasters, or poverty.
Over the past 25 years, Friends has worked in 22 countries of Latin America, treated more than 1 million patients in its medical clinics, worked in 25 natural disasters, and supported community development through its Child Sponsorship program.
Friends of the Americas is a non-profit public charity organized in accordance with Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
